Common questions
How does Delivo calculate international courier charges?
On chargeable weight, which is the greater of the parcel's actual weight and its volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is length x width x height in centimetres divided by 5000. That weight is priced against the destination's bracket table, and 18 percent Indian GST is added. The published rate is the sell price, so no markup or fuel surcharge is applied afterwards.
What is volumetric weight and why does it matter?
Air freight is limited by space as much as by mass, so a large light box is charged on the space it occupies. Divide length x width x height in centimetres by 5000 to get the volumetric weight in kilograms. You are charged on whichever is higher, that figure or the scale weight. Packing tightly in a smaller box is often the cheapest change you can make.
Which countries does Delivo ship to from India?
The USA, the United Kingdom on both Premium and Economy lanes, the UAE, Australia, Singapore, Canada and 22 countries across Europe. Each has its own page with its rates, transit times and customs notes.
Do you pick parcels up from my address?
Yes. Book online and a pickup partner collects from your door. Pickup covers addresses across India and the domestic leg to the Mumbai export hub is included in the quoted price.
Who handles export customs?
Delivo does, at the Mumbai hub. You declare the contents at booking, Delivo generates the commercial invoice and clears the shipment for export. Import duties at the destination are set by that country and paid by the receiver.
How do I track a Delivo shipment?
Enter your AWB number on the tracking page or open Shipments in your dashboard. One Delivo AWB covers the domestic and international legs, so a single number follows the parcel from pickup to delivery.
Is GST charged on international courier from India?
Yes. Indian GST of 18 percent applies to international courier services and is shown as a separate line on the quote and the invoice rather than folded into the rate.
Can I book in bulk or get an invoice for my business?
Yes. The dashboard supports bulk booking from a spreadsheet, a prepaid wallet and downloadable invoices. It is built for sellers shipping 20 to 50 orders a month as well as for one-off senders.
What cannot be sent by international courier?
Cash and negotiable instruments, gold and precious stones, loose lithium batteries, aerosols and flammables, perishables, live plants and animals, and anything the destination country prohibits. Each country page lists the restrictions that catch people out on that particular lane.
What happens if my parcel is held at customs?
Delivo's team works the clearance and contacts you if customs needs a document or a clarification. The most common cause is a vague contents description on the invoice, which is why booking asks you to itemise rather than to write gift items.
