Before you book
Premium or Economy
Premium is the faster lane. Economy trades a day or two of transit for a lower per-kg rate and suits heavier, less urgent parcels. Both are priced in the calculator, so you can compare the two on your actual weight rather than guessing.
Northern Ireland and the islands
Delivery beyond mainland Great Britain can add a leg to the transit time. Enter the full postcode at booking so the estimate reflects the real destination rather than a London average.
Declare gifts as gifts, accurately
UK customs treats a gift differently from a commercial shipment, but the declaration has to be honest and the value has to be realistic. Delivo builds the invoice from what you enter at booking.
Sending a parcel to UK: common questions
How long does a courier from India to the UK take?
Premium is typically 5 to 7 days and Economy 6 to 8 days from pickup to delivery, subject to customs at both ends. The live estimate for the lane you pick shows before you pay.
What is the difference between the UK Premium and UK Economy lanes?
Speed and price. Premium clears and moves faster. Economy is priced lower per kilogram across every weight bracket and is the better choice when the parcel is heavy and the date is flexible. Both are door to door and both are tracked on one Delivo AWB.
Can I send Indian sweets and packaged food to the UK?
Commercially packaged, sealed and shelf stable food is generally acceptable. Home cooked food, fresh produce, meat and dairy are not. List each food item and its contents on the invoice rather than describing the box as food items.
How is the courier charge to the UK calculated?
On chargeable weight, which is the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight of the box. Volumetric weight is length x width x height in centimetres divided by 5000. The rate calculator applies the same brackets our operations team sees, so the figure you get before booking is the figure you pay. Indian GST of 18 percent is added on top of the freight.
Do you pick the parcel up from my address?
Yes. Book online and hand the parcel to the pickup partner at your door. Pickup covers addresses across India, and the domestic leg to our Mumbai export hub is included in the price you were quoted.
Who pays customs duty at the other end?
Duties and taxes in the destination country are set by that country's customs authority and are payable by the receiver. Delivo does not set them and cannot waive them. Your Delivo charge covers the freight, the export formalities at Mumbai and GST in India.
Can I track a shipment to the UK?
Yes. One Delivo AWB covers both the domestic leg and the international leg, so a single number follows the parcel from your door to delivery. Track it from the tracking page or from Shipments in your dashboard.
